Music Will Get You Moving & Grooving

On Track for Kindergarten - An OberlinKids Program

  • Music and movement activities are great for encouraging children to move in new and creative ways to help them develop these skills.

  • Music and singing can help kids develop social and emotional skills.

  • Gross motor skills are developed and refined by using the large muscles of the body.

  • Singing and embracing new melodies thickens the web of circuits vital to sound processing and comprehension.

  • Have your child listen to different genres of music (classical, hip-hop, country, jazz, etc) and have them move their bodies to the music

  • Have your child paint or draw how the music makes them feel

  • Play a pattern of beats for your child and have them repeat it back to you. Let them give you a pattern to repeat.
