Quick Milestone Checklist
Communication
By Age 3: Follow two step directions
By Age 4: Tell you a two word description for an object
By Age 5: Retell a story
Gross Motor
By Age 3: Walk up and down stairs, one foot at a time
By Age 4: Throw a ball overhand in the direction of a person standing six feet away
By Age 5: Catch and bounce a ball
Fine Motor
By Age 3: Draw a circle like yours after watching you draw a circle
By Age 4: Mimic shapes you draw
By Age 5: Able to use buttons, zippers, buckles and laces
Problem Solving
By Age 3: When you point to an item like a dog in a book and ask your child "What is this?" And they answer correctly
By Age 4: Without you pointing, they can "Put the toy UNDER the chair, ABOVE your head, BETWEEN your knees
By Age 5: Sort objects into groups by traits such as color, size, shape or type
Personal-Social
By Age 3: When looking in a mirror and you ask "Who is in the mirror?" They respond "Me", or their name
By Age 4: Wash their hands using soap and water, then dry them with towel without help
By Age 5: Follow a routine and takes care of own needs when preparing for bed
