2026 Oberlin Chalk Walk Kids Zone
OberlinKids will host the Kids Zone at the 2026 Oberlin Chalk Walk on Saturday, June 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 23 Eric Nord Way in the East College Street Courtyard behind Slow Train. This free, family-friendly community event will provide children and families with a safe and engaging space to create, play, and explore throughout the day.
Families can enjoy games, activities, community resources, and art-themed literacy kits while supplies last. The Kids Zone will also feature a child-friendly art experience created by 2026 Chalk Walk Juried Artist, Rebecca Boardman.
The event is designed to give children a fun and creative place to play away from busy roads while celebrating art, literacy, and community connection in downtown Oberlin.

Maya the Therapy Dog at OPL this June
This June, Maya the Therapy dog will be making some special visits to the Oberlin Public Library!
Join Maya and OPL staff on Tuesday nights for Reading Buddies - a great opportunity for kids ages 5-12 to practice their literacy skills by reading to a certified therapy dog! Bring your favorite book from home, search the shelves for something new, or ask a librarian for a recommendation.

Our sister collaborative, Rising Titans, is excited to partner with Lorain with Littles for May Motor Skills Play Date
This hands-on play date is all about helping your littles build important fine & gross motor skills through fun, engaging, play-based activities, because learning happens best when kids don’t even realize they’re doing it
From movement-based play to interactive stations, this is the perfect chance for your child to explore, build confidence, and connect with others in a supportive environment.
As always, you can expect a fun-filled experience with opportunities for connection, learning, and community with other local families

The Incredible Years: Social Emotional Group
OhioGuidestone is offering The Incredible Years: Social Emotional Group for children ages 3–5 this summer at its Lorain location, 2173 North Ridge Road. Sessions will take place on Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. beginning June 5 through August 7, 2026.
The program provides hands-on, play-based learning experiences designed to help young children better understand their own emotions and those of others while building important school-readiness and peer-interaction skills. Children will explore emotional awareness, managing big feelings, following directions, and developing positive friendship skills in a supportive environment.

OhioGuidestone Summer Groups in Lorain
OhioGuidestone is offering a variety of summer support groups for children, teens, and adults at its Lorain location, located at 2173 North Ridge Road. These programs are designed to help participants strengthen social-emotional skills, build confidence, and develop healthy coping strategies in supportive group settings.
Programs available this summer include:
Girl’s Friendship Group for ages 9–12, which focuses on self-concept, identifying strengths, and building positive peer relationships using cognitive behavioral skills.
SPOTS of Emotions with Friends for ages 6–8 uses the Little SPOT of Emotion curriculum to help children strengthen social and emotional learning skills.
The Incredible Years group for children ages 5–7 is an evidence-based program designed to support emotional development, persistence, social skills, and academic competence while helping prevent behavior challenges.
Quieting the Anxious Mind, a supportive program that teaches participants strategies for managing anxiety, regulating emotions, and reducing stress through sensory-based coping techniques. Groups are available for both teens and adults.

OhioGuidestone Ready Care
OhioGuidestone ReadyCare is offering walk-in mental health and substance use support services with no appointment required. The program provides immediate access to compassionate behavioral health care without a waitlist, helping individuals and families receive support when they need it most.
Services available through ReadyCare include mental health and substance use assessments, counseling and therapy, crisis intervention, medication and psychiatric services, and substance use disorder treatment. The walk-in clinics are designed to provide timely, expert care for individuals seeking behavioral health support.
2026 Keep Oberlin Beautiful Day
The City of Oberlin will host the 2026 Keep Oberlin Beautiful Day on Saturday, May 16, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Community members are invited to come together to help beautify Oberlin through neighborhood clean-up efforts and flower planting activities taking place throughout the city.
Residents will also have access to a dumpster for extra waste disposal at Park Street Park, located at 40 South Park Street. In addition, tire and Styrofoam drop-off will be available at the Glass Recycling Site at 505 Hill Creek Drive.
Those interested in volunteering or learning more about the event can contact Recycling Coordinator Lori Sprosty at 440-935-0096 or Recycling@CityofOberlin.com. The event is a great opportunity for residents to work together to keep Oberlin clean, welcoming, and beautiful for everyone.
